Holiday Safety

Thanksgiving Turkey upon a table

The holiday season of turkey, mashed potatoes, and pumpkin pie is upon us. The scents of home cooking and warm fires that surround friends and family allow us to feel safe and cared for. As you start preparing your holiday schedule and family feast, remember to follow a few safety tips that will keep yourself and your loved ones truly safe throughout the holiday.

Many fire departments and the National Fire Protection Association offer safety tips to those celebrating the season; some of the most important points they highlight are always having someone in the kitchen while food is cooking, making sure children are away from the hot stove, and the following Thanksgiving safety suggestions:

  • Only light candles in rooms with guests. Blow the candle out if no one will be in the room to monitor the flame.
  • Fried turkey lovers should use extra caution when using a hot fryer.
  • Make sure cords, knives, and fragile glass are away from the edge of counters or tables.

Finally, all of us here at U.S. Netting would like to wish you a safe and happy Thanksgiving from our family to yours.

Clean Food

Food manufacturing has been around since the early 19th century, and the industry has faced many challenges while providing food for millions of people around the world. While it may seem obvious, the cleanliness of these facilities is highly regulated and inspected.

Sanitary design in the building processes is not always a part of the final design due to the high cost for development and installation; non-GMO, allergen-free, local, and other food trends that have recently swept the country and have set a new standard for many food manufacturers and cutting costs may soon be a thing of the past. New construction for many facilities include:

  • Distinct hygienic zones within the facility
  • Water accumulation controls
  • Room temperature and humidity control
  • Utility systems designed to prevent contamination

While The Food and Drug Administration’s guidelines have been a considerable factor in the design of new food manufacturing facilities over the past several years, not all of the old factories and manufacturing facilities have been able to update to the same standards of today's technology and have been struggling to keep up with current sanitation trends.
