CAUTION: New Slip and Fall Regulations

Since 1971 the Occupational Safety and Health Administration's (OSHA) has been fighting to address the issue of "Walking-Working Surfaces" also known as Slip and Falls. These rules have been proposed in 1973, 1990, and 2010 yet none of them have had the standards OSHA was looking for to be passed; until now.

The new requirements that OSHA has set will give employers and workers the flexibility to decide what fall protection system works best for the operation. This means more guard rails, handrails, covers, nets, and personal fall protection that will be put into place. This new regulation will put the need to evaluate slip, trip, and fall hazards on a regular basis. This will also allow for appropriate protective equipment to be installed with such products like our Defender Gate™, loading dock safety nets, or fall safety netting.

Another thing that will be put into place with this regulation is inspections and maintenance of all walking and working surfaces in a workplace. Meaning upkeep and cleaner working environment. It will also be required to provide employees with proper training on hazards of falling and protection against falls.

This compliance will go into effect as of January 17th, 2017.

Safety Netting for the Phillies’ Major League Baseball Park

The Philadelphia baseball team and Citizens Bank Park have decided to add safety netting to this Major League Baseball Park. Going against the request of some players and fans while satisfying the wishes of others. This baseball netting will be placed over both dugouts as a growing safety trend to keep fans safe. The netting will be eight feet height and will stretch to the far ends of both dugouts.

In 2016 Kansas City, Minnesota, Texas, and Washington raised safety netting that covered the length of the dugouts, with many other teams expected to follow suit in 2017. The new netting should be in place by February 1st, 2017. The Phillies will invite season-ticket holders to visit and take a look at the new netting.

DRL 2017 Tryouts in NYC

Our friends at the Drone Racing League will have the final tryouts for the 2017 season in New York City! The contest will be held at Webster Hall on January 21st, 2017. The event will include a live DJ and 24 tough players competing to be on the team for the drone racing league in 2017 and a $75,000 contract.
